Modifying Begins

Oct 14, 2009
The next step was to get the car some nice extra's and then get her car down to CW performance for some TLC and a Fredmap (Remap).

Before anything could be done i had to get the car out for a drive but there was an issue with the battery dying everytime i went to take the car for a spin, so changed the battery thinking it wasnt holding charge but this did nothing so checked "MOST" of the fuses and nothing seemed wrong so was completely stumped, luckily enough the CW lads where out on a trip to Dublin and decided to drop in for a check up on the RS and quickly realised the main fuse had been blown so after a quick change she was right as rain.

So the next step was to hunt down some nice parts.

I was urged by todd of CW to source an Evo VII Ecu as this opened all the doors for remapping the car and extra's such as anti-lag and knock control to name a few.

In order to get the most from the Evo VII ecu stage one modifications where recommended again by CW

This meant the following was needed: Fuel Pump to a 255lph Walbro, get an uprated Actuator, Downpipe, turbo elbow, decat, Boost controller, Hardpipes (to replace the standard stuff), a good induction kit and air filter.

I had also found a set of Brembo calipers for the Front and rear and discs to suit for a good price this was drastically needed as the twin pots just werent up for the job of stopping even the standard powered evo.

After about 3 weeks i had sourced the parts i wanted but had found out my clutch was on its way out so this was another part i had to source, so as below i sourced an ACT Heavy Duty Clutch and Prolight Flywheel capable of 500+bhp i also bought a few nice extra's such as a battery box and induction box i hadnt intended on but where too well priced to turn down.

Below are the makes of the parts i ended up getting and all at extremely reasonable prices as most where second hand but barely used the pictures verify this.

While the car was in CW having her Make-over it came to the attention of Todd and Barry that the original wheels that had come with the car where a no go and wouldnt fit over the brembo's so this again was an unforseen issue, but was hastely resolved with a short term lend of a set of wheels from CW, i had been in the middle of negotiations with a member on MLR about buying is Wedsport SA90 wheels and luckily he was coming over from the UK and would bring the wheels with him so this fixed that problem also.
